Free Eye Tests for Children
The NHS offers free eye tests to all children under 16 years of age, and those under 19 years of age that are still in full time education.
If your child needs glasses, you will also receive a contribution towards the cost of them, that in most cases will result in them being free of charge.
Research has indicated that 1 in 5 children have an undetected eye problem.
Without early treatment some vision defects can become permanent disabilities.
Ideally your child should have their first eye test before the age of three, but if you have any issues with your childs eyes or vision, then take them along sooner.
